Subluxation of the inferior radio-ulnar joint complicating fracture of the radial head.

چکیده
Subluxation or dislocation of the distal radio-ulnar joint has been regarded as one of the rarer complications after fracture of the head of the radius. Brockman (1930) and Essex-Lopresti (1950) each reported two cases, and Essex-Lopresti recalled that Murray (1940) had found no obvious wrist changes in 459 such fractures, Burton (1942) none in fifty, and Gaston, Smith and Baab (1949) none in 113 cases. Discussing Brockman’s paper, Aitken (1930) recalled seeing a similar complication in one of his own patients who complained of weakness of the grip for a long time; Elmslie (1930) and Dunn (1930) differed as to whether the complication was important functionally or cosmetically. When Cherry (1953) advocated replacement of the fractured radial head with a prosthesis he asserted that this would prevent any tendency to upward displacement of the radius. There was considerable diversity of

Radial Head Prosthesis Removal:a Retrospective Case Series of 14 Patients
Background: The purpose of this study was to report the preoperative complaints and postoperative outcome of patients after removal of the radial head prosthesis. Methods: This is a retrospective review of 14 adult patients (6 females and 8 males) from 2007 to 2011, who underwent radial head prosthesis removal by three surgeons. The average time between implantation and removal was 23 month...
متن کاملPersistent Medial Subluxation of the Ulna with Radiotrochlear Articulation
Two patients-one with a terrible triad fracture dislocation and one with an anterior olecranon fracture dislocation—weretreated for maltracking of the elbow (medial subluxation). The radial head articulated with the lateral trochlea while theulnar trochlear notch was perched over the medial trochlea. The late revision surgery could not correct the subluxationbecause the joints were accustomed t...
متن کاملThe Effect upon the Inferior Radio-ulnar Joint of Excision of the Head of the Radius in Adults.
MATERIAL Fifty-eight adults were reviewed in whom the radial head had been excised, either for comminuted or severely depressed marginal fractures (forty-six cases), or after fracturedislocations of the elbow (twelve cases). The average follow-up was seven and a half years. There were thirty-two men and twenty-six women, and, as in other reported series, the highest incidence was between thirty...

متن کاملDistal radio-ulnar joint subluxation following intramedullary nailing of the radius in a child.
We describe a patient with fractures of both bones of the forearm in whom flexible intramedullary nail fixation of the radius alone led to ulnar malunion and a symptomatic distal radio-ulnar joint subluxation. This was successfully treated by ulnar osteotomy.
